Overheard

Today we (Arden, Thomas and me) were in the car and this is the conversation that took place.

Arden: "Mommy, Daddy's the grocery's OK?"

Me. "OK?"

Arden: "Daddy, I love you."

Arden (in a deep voice) "I love you too sweetheart."

Arden: "Thanks Daddy."

No Mommy, I Don't Need a Nap

The other day Arden was supposed to be napping but instead she was doing everything else that she could think of...so I decided to let her go downstairs and I was going to put her to bed early. However, after 5 minutes of being downstairs I look over and see this:

I covered her with a blanket and left her there. She slept about an hour and half on the couch while I was making dinner in the kitchen right beside her. I find her adorable in this
picture.

Check It Out

Cari posted two great video's of the kids playing with Seth and Tim over Christmas over on her blog. Check it out here.

I Love Blueberries

Thomas loves blueberries. I think I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Stopping By

My friend Jenny is completing a special residency program for the month of January at Duke Hospital. She was able to stop by and see us for a day. We had such a great time together. We talked for hours, watched a little football and celebrated the new year. Actually, we've all been so tired that we decided to crash before midnight but we still had a great time.

Her and Arden posted with the stocking that she made for Arden. I am so glad that I was able to get a picture of the two of them together the year she gave Arden her stocking.

Let's Not Forget About the Boys

Thomas and Luke are going to be pals one day. They entertain each other. My favorite time with Luke was one morning he was helping me change Thomas and I asked him what he would like to do for fun that day.

His response: "Well, I think it would be fun to go watch some concrete being poured or maybe we could watch someone dig a ditch." Don't worry Luke, Thomas will be there with you in a couple of years."

Favorite Part of the Day

Seth and Tim took the kids to a huge indoor playground one day. Later that afternoon Arden and Ella made hats with Aunt Cari. At the end of the day Arden told me that making hats was the best part of the day.

Here are the girls showing off their designs.

A New Generation

Arden and Luke (her cousin) were hanging out before bedtime just watching a video on the I-phone. While I still find the newest technology fascinating they find it normal.

10 Months

It's that time again. Thomas turned 10 months old today. Seriously this time it feels just like yesterday because it was freezing the day I brought him home from the hospital and we've been really cold here.

Here's what he's been up to:
  • Scooting around while seating. (I'll have to post a video of this soon)

  • Crawling on all fours

  • Climbing stairs all by himself

  • Pulling up

  • Cruising the couch and moving from the ottoman and then back to the couch

  • He has one front tooth

  • He says "mom" over and over again

  • Loves blueberries

Here's our handsome little boy at 10 months:

Christmas Morning

Warning: There many pictures in this post.

Christmas was so much fun in our house. We had rain here all day so it was dreary outside but inside we had such a great day. We took our time opening up presents. We made cinnamon french toast for breakfast and just enjoyed being a family. Dave's mom joined us this year for Christmas and it was a relaxing day for the 5 of us.

Arden had a great Christmas. Arden must have been very good this year because Santa was very good to her. Thomas enjoyed ripping the paper off of his packages. He didn't need any help and got into the spirit of things.

We played with the kids all day and took naps plus we ate really well. I really enjoyed to day and hated to see Christmas end this year.

"Hum...maybe there's some food in here for me."

I love the look of surprise in her face.

When she opened this gift she exclaimed "My microphone!" She play with these at the store all the time.

This gift was from Grammy. Arden loves playing the games on her computer.

Waitin' on Santa

On Christmas Eve Arden wanted to wear her Santa hat to bed. She was trying to tell me the story of Twas the Night Before Christmas and how she needed to wear her stocking cap.

I love this girl.

Christmas Eve Services

I am really behind but one day I will catch up. Our church has unbelievable Christmas Eve services. The church rents out the Belk Theater uptown and celebrates Jesus' birthday like no other.

I love going to Christmas eve services in the city. Since I grew up in WV I think about Christmas eve services as very quiet, quaint, lots of snow and cold. As a child I love Christmas Eve service and as an adult I look forward to going home to the tradition. But now that I am an adult with two kids I have a different experience here. My childhood was very special and it's neat that I don't have to try and compare today to then. I am able to enjoy both.

Anyway...Uptown is all decorated with lights and horse draw carriages. Outside the theater is a jazz band playing Christmas. It is so festive.

On our way to check the children into E-Kidz. Santa was there to welcome them. Arden normally does not go near Santa but she had her picture taken with him. Thomas was enthralled by Santa and really liked him.

The service was great and we were so thankful to celebrate Jesus' Birthday!

Getting Ready for Christmas Eve Services

Thomas received a Santa hat that fit him perfectly that said "Baby's First Christmas". He is also learning to balance. He's showing off before we leave for Christmas Eve services.

Paw Paw and His Little Man

We were snowed out of WV before Christmas. My parents received 3 FT of snow in 24 hrs and the roads were shut down. This is unusual because they live in the mountains and are used to getting snow but they had a blizzard. I think all of those living there would say that a blizzard is an understatement.

Since we were unable to get up to see them they came to see us for a day. We had a great time. I love these pictures of my dad and Thomas.

The New Year -- So Far So Good

We're still here. I have so much to share. I need to tell you all about Christmas and our 2009 reflections. Plus everything else that has happened over the past two weeks.

We've been so busy that I haven't had time to sit down and blog. I love blogging so I should be back up and running in the next couple of days.

Until I get some pictures up know that Thomas is officially crawling. He's up on all fours and getting around. He's a little slow. He barley puts his knees in front of him but he's getting there. Think of how Tim Conway walked really slow on the Carol Burnett show and that's how Thomas crawls. He officially started yesterday and today he is getting faster. Being slow is a good thing for now because he's very curious.
